Paving the Way for Mubarak's Visit to the United States in April
VOICE OF THE COPTS
We know that Mubarak is preparing to visit the United States in April to
meet with its new President Obama. This visit is very important to the
ageing Mubarak, who is desperate to keep up his image as self-acclaimed
regional stabilizer, leader of the Arab world and main player in the
Israeli-Palestinian peace process. A role which also secures him nearly 2
billion dollars of in US aid plus handouts yearly.
Does defending Western values constitute “inciting hatred”?
By Bat Yeor
Britain has just witnessed the spectacle of a duly elected parliamentarian from another EU country, Geert Wilders of the Netherlands, being denied entry to the country because he constituted “a threat to public policy.” Wilders, after being detained briefly at Heathrow, was sent back to Holland — where he has further legal troubles.
"O Christ our God, the True Light, let the thought of light shine within us."
أيها المسيح إلهنا النور الحقيقي فلتشرق فينا حواس النور
Jesus Christ is the one and only true light for all mankind. The Christians of Egypt, the Copts, address Christ the Lord, the true light, in their morning prayers, and implore him to let his light to shine within us. The vast majority of the Copts recite their morning prayers in Arabic, the language spoken in Egypt for several centuries.
However, this prayer recited in the original Coptic, or more precisely the last stage of the Egyptian language,

A Muslim Umma, But No Christian Community: Grim Observations at Eastertide
In The Spectator, Anthony Browne, European correspondent for The Times of London and a man with whom I once had the great pleasure of appearing on BBC Radio along with the illustrious jihadist leader Omar Bakri, reports on the world-wide persecution of Christians, beginning with post-Saddam Iraq (thanks to Mark Durie for the link):

Though ancient Egyptian artifacts such as the golden mask of king Tut have become familiar popular culture objects, ancient Egyptian literature remain to a great extent unknown to most people. Some ancient Egyptian literary creations such as the tales of "Sinuhe" and the "Setna" seem to have been the exception, as they reached a wider audience.
It is obvious that the Copts in Egypt have been under suffocating conditions since the Junta of 1952. The fact that the Junta members were also members of the Secret system of the Moslem Brotherhood was demonstrated and emphasized in every aspect of their activities and decisions.
"Jews are the enemy of Allah," declared Ismael Gharaballi during a service in a mosque in Bielefeld, Germany. "This is not only my belief, but also Allah's conviction," the Palestinian imam and Hamas activist declared, waving his Koran in the air. The congregation of about 200 thundered, "Allahu Akbar!"

The Times
The Muslim population in Britain has grown by more than 500,000 to 2.4 million in just four years, according to official research collated for The Times.
The population multiplied 10 times faster than the rest of society, the research by the Office for National Statistics reveals. In the same period the number of Christians in the country fell by more than 2 million.
Copts Between an Islamic Government and Their Own Church
Voice of the Copts
Throughout its history, Egypt has always been the ambition of foreign invaders. In fact, Egypt was invaded several times, by different occupiers and for different periods. However, the worst one of them all, was the Arab occupation of Coptic Egypt, from the 7th century until our present day.
first Muslim to be elected to the U.S. Congress, after Ellison announced he plans to have his oath of office photo taken with the Koran, not the Christian Bible, as is tradition.” Ellison was sworn in last month to serve in the House of Representatives as a United States Congressman after being elected last November from the 5th district of Minnesota.

(رأس الحكمة مخافة اللة)
As the writer was a child growing up in Egypt, it was common to respectfully address a Muslim as (الشيخ) which means "Elder", and a Copt as (المعلم), which means "Teacher". Perhaps addressing a Copt as a "Teacher" shouldn't come as a surprise, as some historians e.g. the Arab historian Al-Maqrizi (1) noted that the Copts were in fact (اهل علم) people of knowledge. Likewise, Coptic businessmen or employees were known to be (حقانين) which means people who conduct their business with diligence and strive for perfection and excellence.
The Swiss-born Paul Hinder is the Catholic Church’s bishop of Arabia. Pierre Heumann of the Swiss weekly Die Weltwoche spoke with him recently on “inter-religious dialogue,” the political tendency of Islam, and the difficulties confronted by practicing Christians in Arab countries. The interview appears here for the first time in English.
Reflections on the Visit of His Exellency Ambassador Sameh Shoukry
To St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church of Washington, DCOn Saturday 1/10/2009
It was a pleasure for the congregation receiving H.E. Ambassador Shoukry and the senior staff of the Egyptian Embassy. The meeting was very cordial and amiable. The main purpose was to discuss consular issues but apparently, H.E. was prepared for other issues by accompanying his section heads to the meeting. He graciously encouraged the congregation to discuss any issue. Members of the congregation also demonstrated their usual civility, respect and love as requested by H.H. Pope Shenouda and beloved Fr. Bishoy Anderawes. It was a pleasant evening and I hope Amb. Shoukry repeats his visit to our Church which he rightly called “home”. The Coptic Church is the loving mother of all Egyptians.
That’s how long Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has been warning about a radical change in Egypt’s moderate, Western-friendly government. “The radical Islamic movement, led by Iran, is very strong in Egypt,” Mr. Flurry wrote in December 1994. “This religion will probably take control … very soon.”
Although, the killing of twenty one Copts could not be considered mass
murder by any measure, as this number of people could be easily die in any
road traffic accident anywhere. However, "El-Kosheh's" massacre, or
slaughter, as some wish to call it, had different reasons to an overturned
bus or a train accident. Such aspects and motivations were reflected upon in
the last five reports published in the last weeks.
Jemaah Islamiyah Adopts the Hezbollah Modelby Zachary Abuza Middle East Quarterly
Islamist terrorism may have its roots in the Middle East, but it has long since expanded globally. Indonesia, the most populous Muslim country, is no exception. Jemaah Islamiyah has for more than fifteen years fought to transform Indonesia into an Islamist state. In recent years, its terrorist campaign has suffered setbacks. As Jemaah Islamiyah regroups, it builds upon the experience of Middle East terrorist groups. From Al-Qaeda, it adopts philosophical underpinnings that guide its dual strategy.
On January 7th, the Coptic Church in Egypt celebrates Christmas. Out of
respect to the memory of those who lost their lives and those who lost their
dear ones in that barbaric attack, I decided to stop "El-Kosheh" reports
until after the holidays.

Copts that become Muslims without knowing it
When he took a new wife, Rami’s father opted for a new life with new children and a new religion: born a Copt, he converted to Islam, the religion of his second wife.
Rami from his part, grew up “normally” next to his mother like a little Copt, he followed religion courses at school (mandatory in Egypt) for Christian students, he went to church once a week and considers himself a young man with a solid faith.
