Muslim Egyptian Lawyer and His Sons Attempt to Demolish Church

(AINA) -- Mohammad Mostafa Kamel, a Muslim prosecutor at the Alexandria Criminal Court, and his two sons, aided by some hired Muslims, broke into the church of the St. Mary in Rashid at 4 PM today and demolished a great part of its alter. They came to the church with front loaders.
Kamel had no demolition order.
His fight with the church goes back to 2009 when he tried to take ownership of the church, claiming that he bought the ancient church, which dates back to the 9th century, from the Greek Orthodox Church. But it was the Coptic church who bought after it was up for sale due to the dwindling number of Greeks in Rashid, which is located 65 km (40 mi) east of Alexandria, in Beheira governorate.
To make Copts will always be busy fighting for their survival, proving their innocence, claiming their stolen properties etc.. to speed up their decline.

Two Coptic children arrested for insulting Islam in the Upper Egyptian village of Ezbet Marco were released Thursday afternoon pending investigation, according to Ahram Online's reporter in Beni Suef.
The attorney general of Beni Suef told Ahram Online that he ordered the release of Nabil Nagy Rizk, 10, and Mina Nady Farag, 9, "due to their young age."

Detaining children is the latest in an alarming trend of Egyptians facing prison sentences over contempt of religion. More worrying is how those facing such charges appear to be disproportionately Coptic Christians.

(AINA) -- Two Coptic children were detained on charges of Defamation of Islam. Mina Nady Farag, 9, and Nabil Nagy Rizk, 10, both from the village of Ezbet Marco in Beni Suef, were arrested and sent to a juvenile detention center until Sunday, pending investigation into a complaint submitted by the village Muslims. The children will appear again before prosecution on Sunday.
Nabil's father told Copts United that his son does not read or write. He said the children were searching in a pile of trash to find "something useful" when they came over a plastic bag with torn papers. They were stopped by a Salafi sheikh, who took the children to church to report them to the priest. "He insisted that the priest stop mass and come outside to talk to him," said a resident of the village. The priest went out and chided the two boys.

Recent blasphemy cases show that Copts are not treated equally before the law

While it is not a new thing to suffer as a Copt, the raised expectations of better treatment after the revolution turned to be a big frustration. It is not simply about complaining; the goal of the article is to highlight the Copts’ plight and how to overcome those sufferings.
This article will highlight some recent incidents that support my argument of the Copts’ dilemma. It will also examine the weak reaction by the current regime, the lack of effort to seriously tackle those issues, and it will provide some suggestions for ways forward.
Bishoy Kameel, a Coptic teacher in Sohag, was sentenced to six years in prison for insulting Islam and defaming President Morsi on his Facebook page. This sentence was confirmed by an appeal court in Sohag, and the whole process happened in a matter of days.

(ANSAmed) - Rome, October 1 - The last group of Christian families living in Rafah, north Sinai have abandoned their homes in the wake of threats and attacks by Islamic militants, and their case has become a political one. But some families are now back. Egypt's President Mohammed Morsi gave his assurance that the safety of both Christians and Muslims is paramount in the area, which has increasingly become a 'no man's land'.
طلب اللواء سيد حرحور، محافظ شمال سيناء، مهلة من الأسر القبطية حتى الخميس المقبل، لكي يروا الأمن بأعينهم وانتشاره في مدينة رفح.
جاء ذلك خلال اجتماع لمحافظ شمال سيناء والأسر القبطية والأنبا قزمان في كنيسة المساعيد بمدينة العريش، الأحد، واستمر الاجتماع لأكثر من ثلاث ساعات وسط إصرار الأسر القبطية على عدم البقاء في مدينة رفح، والسماح لهم بالانتقال لمدينه العريش ولو لمدة 6 شهور، إلا أن المفاوضات توصلت إلى بقائهم في مدينة رفح حتى الخميس، ليشهدوا عودة الأمن بأنفسهم.
وأكد «حرحور» أنه بصدد عقد لقاء، الأحد، مع الأجهزة الأمنية لبحث عودة انتشار الأمن في مدينة رفح وتوفير الحماية الكاملة للأسر القبطية ولمدينة رفح كاملة، وأضاف أنه سوف يقوم بزيارة للأسر القبطية، الإثنين، بمدينة رفح للاطلاع على أحوالهم.

(AINA) -- Copts in the North Sinai border town of Rafah have started leaving
their homes after receiving an ultimatum from Islamists to leave "within 48
hours" or be killed. According to confirmed reports 9 Coptic families have left
the town. The remaining 23 Coptic families are still there, waiting to leave.
"it is difficult for us to leave as most of us are shop-owners and have
property, so it is not easy just to leave everything and go," said one Copt who
is still with his family in Rafah. The Copts are all confined to their homes,
afraid to venture out.
However, two days ago. masked men on motorcycles sprayed Coptic stores with
bullets, but no one was hurt.
The nine Coptic families who left Rafah were government employees and the
Governor of North Sinai offered to transfer them to neighboring Sinai Province
capital, Al-Arish, to take posts there instead.
About three weeks ago a Coptic shop owner received a hand-written threat that
"all Christians should leave Rafah within 48 hours, otherwise they will be
killed." Copts reported these threats to security but were told not to take the
threats "earnestly," because threats were during the time of the YouTube clip
mocking Mohammad. "We thought the writers of these threats were just being
vindictive against the Copts since it was claimed that a US Copt is responsible
for it [the film]," said a Copts resident of Rafah.
Following death threats from what are alleged to be militant groups, Christian families have been fleeing the border town of Rafah in North Sinai, according to news reports and accounts from activists on Thursday.
"On Wednesday evening I received 100 percent authentic information that Christians left Rafah in Sinai because of death threats from groups,” activist and novelist Mosaad Abu Fagr said on his Twitter account Thursday.

Egypt Copt jailed for 6 years over blasphemous acts
CAIRO: A court in Egypt jailed an Egyptian Christian for six years on Tuesday for disrespecting Prophet Mohammad and for insulting Islamist President Mohamed Morsi on social networking sites, a judicial source said.
Beshoi al-Beheiry, from the province of Sohag in central Egypt, was sentenced by a criminal court to three years for defaming Islam after posting offensive cartoons on Facebook, the source said.

وجاء القرار بعد تقديم دفاع المتهمين طلبًا باخلاء سبيلهم على ذمة القضية ويعد المتهمين المخلي سبيلهم من الذين وجهت لهم النيابة تهم الاتلاف العمد وتحطيم 25 منزلا ومحلا ملك الأقباط انتقامًا من مقتل الشاب معاذ محمد أحمد ضحية أحداث الفتنة التي شهدتها قرية دهشور منذ ما يقرب من شهرين .
Muslim Cleric Tears Bible At Protest Outside the US Embassy in Cairo
(AINA) -- During the demonstration which was held in front of the American Embassy in Cairo on Tuesday, 9/11, a Muslim cleric named Abu Islam tore and burned the Holy Bible in front of thousands of Muslims. His action was met with applause and anti-Christian cheers from the demonstrators. Before leaving the demonstration and getting into his car, he told the crowds "next time I will urinate on it."
The video above shows the Muslim cleric tearing the Bible. The video says:

A court in southern Egypt has sentenced a Coptic Christian teacher to six years in prison for posting on his Facebook page drawings that it ruled insulted Islam's Prophet Muhammad and comments deemed an affront to the country's president.
The state news agency said the court decision Tuesday in Sohag province also finds Beshoi el-Behiri guilty of insulting the plaintiff. The court case predates the public anger that was triggered by an amateur movie produced by a Copt living in the United States that ridicules Muhammad as a womanizer, child molester and buffoon. But sensitivities over the film have clearly hiked the tension around the court.
